Diocletian’s Palace & Old Town Walking Tour

This 3-hour Split shore excursion begins at the cruise port, where we’ll meet directly in front of your ship. From there, we’ll take a pleasant 15-minute walk to Split’s historic center, a UNESCO-listed World Heritage Site. We will visit Diocletian’s Palace and its Substructures (with entrance fees) and admire the main square, Peristil, the Palace fortifications with the Golden, Silver, Iron and Bronze Gates, the Mausoleum / St. Domnius’s Cathedral (external visit), and Jupiter’s Temple / Baptistery (external visit). We’ll also discover medieval houses of noble families and a small former Jewish quarter with its historic synagogue.
The second part of the Split walking tour takes us into the Old Town outside Diocletian’s Palace, where we’ll explore the fishermen’s market and famous squares including Pjaca (People’s Square), Fruit Square and Prokurative (Republic Square). We’ll walk down Marmontova Street and learn about the social and political life of Split under Venetian, French, Austro-Hungarian and Yugoslav rule. By the end of this Split shore excursion, you’ll have a better understanding of the city’s rich history, local lifestyle and the little peculiarities that make Split so special. You’ll also receive recommendations on what to see, do and experience after the tour.
We’ll finish on the Riva promenade by the sea, in the heart of Split.

This is a walking tour through a fully pedestrian area, with one stairway along the way. From the cruise port, it’s approximately a 15-minute easy walk to the Old Town. All tours are private.

Entrance fees to Diocletian's Palace Substructures (Basements) are not included in the price of the tour. They are available at the museum entrance or online at this link.
