Split City Tour - Orientation Tour (1 hour)
Tour highlight: Diocletian's palace
This tour takes you for a walk in the Old Town of Split (UNESCO's World Heritage Site) for about 1 hour. Firstly, we will visit Diocletian's Palace with its Basements or the Substructures (external visit), and admire the main square Peristil, the Palace fortifications with Golden, Silver, Iron and Bronze gates, the Mausoleum / St. Domnius's Cathedral (external visit), Jupiter's temple / Baptistery (external visit), medieval houses of noble families, a small former Jewish ghetto with a synagogue...
The second part of the tour takes us to the medieval neighborhood outside the Palace and, there, we will explore some famous squares: Pjaca (People's square) and Fruit square, and learn about the socio-political lifestyle under Venetian, French, Austrian-Hungarian and Yugoslavian rule. By the end of this tour, you'll have a better understanding of the rich history, local lifestyle and little peculiarities that make Split so special. You'll also get recommendations on what to do and see after the tour by yourself.
We will end the tour on Riva promenade by the sea.
